Central Silk Board
The Central Silk Board (CSB) is a Statutory Body, established during 1948, by an Act of Parliament (Act No.LXI of 1948). It functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, having head quarters at Bengaluru. The mandated activities of CSB are Research and Development, maintenance of four tier silkworm seed production network, leadership role in commercial silkworm seed production, standardizing and instilling quality parameters in the various production processes and advising the Government on all matters concerning sericulture and silk industry. These mandated activities are being carried out by the 176 units of CSB located in different States through an integrated Central Sector Scheme viz “Silk Samagra” for development of silk industry. The year 2024 is celebrated as Platinum Jubilee year by CSB to commemorate its 75 years of dedicated service to sericulture and the silk industry.
Central Silk Technological Research Center (CSTRI)
Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI), situated in Bengaluru is the only research institute in the country dedicated to the Research & Developmental activities related to post-cocoon technology. Established in the year 1983 by the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, today, it is recognized as a premier Textile Research Institute in the country dedicated to the post cocoon aspects including silk reeling, by-product utilization, twisting, weaving, wet processing, product design and development. CSTRI promotes the improvement in quality and productivity through “Silk Samagra”, an integrated scheme for development of silk industry by the Govt. of India. The schemes include some of the machinery and processes developed by the institute.
In order to remain globally competitive, CSTRI aims to provide a common platform to extend and exchange their valuable ideas to develop a realistic plan of actions for development of mulberry and vanya (non-mulberry) silk industry across International borders. In this context, CSTRI is organizing International Conference on Global Scenario and Sustainable Solutions in Silk Industry for the benefit of all stakeholders including researchers, industry, innovators, institutes, students as part of the mega event Bharat Tex – 2024 Expo at New Delhi, India.

CSTRI is proud to be associated with the Indian Institute of Technology – Delhi (IIT Delhi) as a knowledge partner for this conference. It is one of the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology created to be Centre of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India. Founded in 1961, the Department of Textiles and Fibre Engineering established with a mission of conducting world-class research and providing quality education, with dedicated focus on teaching and research in Textile and Fibre Engineering. The department imparts education and conducts research in all major areas of textiles viz., polymers & fibres, yarn, fabric, nonwovens and chemical processing.
